The state of the art Sandwell Aquatics Centre was built as the only brand-new venue for the Birmingham 2022 Commonwealth Games. A 50m temporary training/warm-up pool was also provided. Following the Games, the venue will be reconfigured to reopen as a community facility in the summer of 2023.
Each legacy water treatment system produces crystal clear pristine water using PAC flocculation, medium rate filtration, photo-oxidation using ultraviolet, heating, automated control of pH and residual disinfectant (chlorine) levels. The traversable booms are provided with high free area ratio vertical surfaces to make manual movement a simple two man operation.
