The 45 year old building at Fullwell Cross Leisure Centre was refurbished to bring the pool water treatment system up to date to PWTAG guidelines requirements. The system is complete with a balance tank, VSD controlled circulation pumps, PAC flocculation, deep bed single grade sand media filtration, photo-oxidation using ultraviolet treatment, high efficiency plate heat exchangers, automated pH and residual chlorine disinfection control.
The inclusion of the static boom provides the pool with a 25m short course competition and swim club training facility, and an increased flexibility in the operational configuration of the pool increasing revenue potential.
Pool tank profile was modified by the inclusion of two static floors, one on an inclined plane on the 25m side of the boom and on the other side of the boom a single depth floor.
A key feature of the refurbishment was the inclusion of the static boom and the new floor profiles that created voids below to the existing pool tank base. These voids allowed for flexible design options for the pool water distribution system. The effectiveness of the surface water removal systems and disinfectant distribution were greatly enhanced as a result.
